high tea gang,
We know you come here to peep into hidden corners of the internet and for our take on spilling the zeitgeist tea, but that’s not important right now. Not today, not this week.
We cannot continue to provide commentary on the black culture that we consume and are shaped by, without supporting the black lives of those who create it and continue to suffer exploitation at the hands of those who profit from their art.
Today we’re handing over our platform and using our internet real estate as a space for the voices that matter most and the ones that need to be elevated. To stay silent at this time, and as we move forward, is to continue to participate in the eradication of black voices and perpetuate harm to this community. Below are a list of resources, networks, calls-to-action and fundraising platforms that require your attention. Please take the time to read, share and contribute.
This is a constant process of learning and unlearning ways in which our systems, actions and words are harmful, while acknowledging our privilege and holding ourselves, and those around us, to account. This is our time to listen, rather than speak.
To our community: where are the black voices in your room? What are you doing to amplify them? Are you following, supporting, hiring and paying them? What opportunities are you actively seeking out to do better and begin the process of dismantling white supremacy? And remember: if you can’t sing, pass the mic.
ttyl,
